The Milwaukee chapter will have a number of events on or around St.
Patrick's Day in 2008. These included our March meeting and 48th
birthday; our parade; our Post Parade Party, and our
Mass in honor of St. Patrick.

Our March 6, 2008 meetingwas our48th birthday celebration.
The meeting was held at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center, 2133
West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, at 7:00 PM. The Irish honorees for 2008 will be given their sashes, and the Shamrock Club Color Guard Pipes and Drums will entertain with a concert.
March 8 Events:
2008 Parade Starts at Noon
The 2008 St. Patrick's Day Paradetook place at our original home along Wisconsin Avenue!!! March 8 saw the Shamrock Club's return to Wisconsin Avenue for the sixth time in over two decades. This is the largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in Wisconsin, and in 2007, was the largest parade in Wisconsin, with 165 units and 65,000 spectators.
Parade Route
The 42nd Annual Shamrock Club of Wisconsin St. Patrick's Parade
stepped off at Noon from 3rd and Wisconsin in front of the Grand Avenue Mall. The parade proceeded east to Plankinton, north on Plankinton to Kilbourn, west on Kilbourn to Old World Third Street, north on Old World Third Street to Juneau, east on Juneau to Water Street, south on Water Street. 160 units will be a part of the largest parade in Wisconsin.
Our Irish honorees, Irishman of the Year Joseph Hughes, Irish Rose, Linda Tuescher, and Parade Marshal, Del Canon, were a part of the parade. Also joining the day were Milwaukee Archbishop Timothy Dolan. In additon, over 100 members of the New York City Police and Fire Departments marchedagain this year.

Post Parade Party
March 8, ICHC 1 to 6 PM
The annual Post Parade Party took place at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center, 2133 West Wisconsin Avenue from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Officially, doors opened at 12:30 p.m. This is Milwaukee's biggest parade family celebration. There were four stages of entertainment, and four dance schools, sixz bands, anda children's show. Food and beverages will be served. Opening the day off in the Hallamorwas the Shamrock Club Color Guard Pipes and Drums.
Four Stages of continuous entertainment, including Glencastle Irish Dancers, Trinity Academy of Dance, and Kinsella Irish Dance School, Ceol Cairde, Blarney, the Caledonian Dancers, The Gleasons,, Jeff Ward; U 2 Zoo, and Eileen O'Rourke: Leprechaun Stories, and more.

A full Irish breakfast and a continental breakfast will be served at the ICHC after the Mass. The full Irish breakfast includes eggs, bangers, potatoes O'Brien, and black and white pudding. It costs $7, and reservations are recoomended. The cost of the continental breaksfast is $3 for adults. Children's portions will also be served. Call 414-345-8800 to reserve your spot at the breakfast.
There will also be bus service from the ICHC to St Patrick's. Two buses will run from the ICHC to St Patrick's Church prior to the Mass, and return afterwards.

Easter Rising Mass March 23 at ICHC
The Shamrock Club's annual Easter Rising Mass took place at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center on Sunday, March 23, at 9:30 am. That Mass is said in honor of the members of the Irish revolution who took part in the Easter Week, 1916, Rising. Father Michael Maher, S. J., celebrated the Mass.

Annual Scholarship Raffle Drawing
At April Meeting
During February, March and early April we will sell our tickets for the Shamrock Club Scholarship Raffle. The prizes in 2008 include: $2 Round trip Tickets on Air Tran Airlines, to wherever they fly in the continental United States; Waterford Crystal from Waterford Wedgewood in Pleasant Prairie; a Belleek China Vase; $400 Golf package to Brown Deer Golf Course; a stay at the County Clare Irish Inn in Milwaukee, a Green Bay Packer Souvenior Package; a framed photo of Ireland by Ken Tehan of Tehan Photo, valued at $350; a $250 bracelet from Refelctive Images; and 9 more prizes. We will award a number of $500 scholarships for college level students who qualify. In 2007 we gave $2500 to five winners. In 2005, we gave away four scholarships.
