The Milwaukee chapter had a number of events on or around St. Patrick's Day in 2010. These included our March meeting and 50th birthday; our parade; our Post Parade Party, and our Mass in honor of St. Patrick.
Our March 4, 2010 meeting was our 50th birthday celebration. The meeting was held at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center, 2133 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, at 7:00 PM. The Irish honorees for 2010 were sashed.
The Shamrock Club and Westown,l presented a week of Irish entertainment and culture for more than the week prior to the parade. The celebrations started off with the Shamrock Club's annual birthday party at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center on March 4, with a concert by the Shamrock Club Color Guard Pipes and Drums. Starting March 10, there was daily entertainment at the Shops of Grand Avenue, featuring local Irish bands and dance schools, as well as our press conference on Thursday, March 11; the ShamRock the Avenue, at the Miller Time Pub in the Hilton Hotel Downtown on March 12; and the Saturday events, our Mass in Honor of St. Patrick, our Parade, and our Post Parade Party. In addition, there is pre-parade music at the Shops of Grand Avenue. It is truly a magnificent week of Milwaukee's Irish Pride.

The 25th Annual Special Mass To Honor St. Patrick took place on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at St. Patrick's Church, 723 South 7th at Washington Street, Milwaukee. The celebrant for the 2010 Mass was Archbishop Jerome Listecki.
The Shamrock Club Choir, under the direction of Bob Harrold, sang the liturgy. The Shamrock Club Color Guard Pipes and Drums piped in the colors and stood as honor guard for the Mass. There was a sign reader for hearing impaired. There were readings and songs in Irish and English.

There was bus service to and from the ICHC before and after the Mass.

A full and a continental breakfast took place after the Mass in Parlor B. It is being provided by Victory Christian School.

We had the greatest parade in Wisconsin. We had 180 untis, with the most floats ever,in this, the Shamrock Club's 50th anniversary year. The entire event took one hour and fifteen minutes, with brisk marching the course of the day.
The 44th Annual Shamrock Club of Wisconsin St. Patrick's Parade steps off at Noon from 3rd and Wisconsin in front of the Grand Avenue Mall. The parade proceeds east to Plankinton, north on Plankinton to Kilbourn, west on Kilbourn to Old World Third Street, north on Old World Third Street to Juneau, east on Juneau to Water Street, south on Water Street. 180 units were a part of the largest parade in Wisconsin.

The 2010 St. Patrick's Day Parade took place at our original home along Wisconsin Avenue. March 13 saw the Shamrock Club's return to Wisconsin Avenue for the seventh time in over two decades. This is the largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in Wisconsin, and in 2010, was viewed by 80,000 spectators.

We have the largest parade of any kind in the State of Wisconsin. It is a day of family fun.
The downtown parade has been the largest parade of any type in Wisconsin for the most of the past five years, and this year we are staying true to that history. Check our parade site at Saint Patrick's Parade. Thanks for joining the Shamrock Club, and our partners, Westown, and Miller Lite, for what has become one of the largest St Patrick's Day Parades in North America. It is the greatest family friendly event of the season. We had six Irish dance schools, pipe bands, clowns, drill teams, marching bands, and the most Irish organizations in the greater Milwaukee area. It is a spectacle to behold, and a very Irish display of our honor to St. Patrick. It will be a wonderful display of our Irish pride.
Milwaukee's Hunger Task Force collected non-perishable food along the parade route again this year.
Thanks to all who join us on the greatest day of the year. And thanks for being a part of Milwaukee's Irish history and present. And remember - Everyone is Irish for St. Patrick's Day!!!
The Shamrock Club offered bus service from the ICHC to the parde route until 4 p.m. Parade pickup and dropoff spots were at the Trinity Three Irish Pubs, Edison and Juneau; Mader's Restaurant, Old World Third Street and Highland, and Mo's Irish Pub, Plankinton and Wisconsin.

The Northern Ireland band Different Drums of Ireland were the headliner at the Shamrock Club's Post Parade Party on Saturday, March 13, 2010. Different Drums have been a Milwaukee favorite for many years. This was their first appearance at the Shamrock Club's party.
The Post Parade Party took place on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center, 2133 W Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee from 1 to 6 PM.
Different Drums of Ireland was created in 1992 as a community relations project in Derry, N Ireland. The two main drums, the Lambeg and Bodhran represent the two main communities in Northern Ireland and bringing them together. The music also features the Uilleann, whistles, guitar, snares, long drum, and 4 voices and is driven by the engine of the African djembe.
The band has played across the world, for everyone from US and Irish presidents to school children. The message is the same: Celebrate that which makes us different and that which bonds us together.
Other acts booked for the PPP were Blarney and Dublin O'Shea,Glencastle Irish Dancers, Rince Nia Academy of Dance, and Kinsella Irish Dance School, Ian Gould, Athas, the Caledonian Dancers, Myserk; and Eileen O'Rourke: Leprechaun Stories, and more. Food and beverages will be served .

The party ran 1-6 pm at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center , 2133 West Wisconsin. The party is a part of the Shamrock Club's events on March 13, including the Downtown Saint Patricks Parade Milwaukee.
The Shamrock Club's annual Easter Rising Mass took place at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at 9.30 am. That Mass is said in honor of the members of the Irish revolution who took part in the Easter Week, 1916, Rising. Father Terry Brennan, S. J., celebrate the Mass.
A Continental breakfast took place after the Mass in Parlor B.
During February, March and early April we sell our tickets for the Shamrock Club Scholarship Raffle. The prizes in 2010 included: $1000 Grand Prize; $400 Golf package to Brown Deer Golf Course; a stay at the County Clare Irish Inn in Milwaukee, stay at St. Brendan Inn in Green Bay; a night stay at The Irish Cottage in Galena, IL; Silver earrings from Blarney Imports. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10.
We awarded four $500 scholarships for college level students who qualified in 2009. In 2008, we gave away 4 scholarships totalling $2000, and in 2007 we gave $2500 to five winners. In 2005, we gave away four scholarships.
The Shamrock Club is happy to announce the 2010 Shamrock Club Irish Studies Scholarship winners. They are: Corey Klinzing, (UWM, Oideas Gael, Donegal) ; John Kellogg, (UWM PHD Candidate - Oideas Gael, Donegal) ; and Drew Blanchard , (UWM PHD Candidate - IASIL Conference, NUI Maynooth) . The AOH/Shamrock Club Scholarship winner is Emily Fitzgibbons, (Wesleyan University, Queens University, Belfast, Investni).
