Over 50 Years Of Celebrating Wisconsin's Irish Life and Pride

In 1960, The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin started a revolution in the life of Irish Wisconsin. The organization started small, but eventually became the wellspring of Irish life and culture for much of Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin. Where there was a void in the cultural side of life, soon the Shamrock Club would fill it with parades, Irish dancing, an Irish festival, scholarships, and so much more.

The Shamrock Club is the oldest and largest Irish American membership organization in the State of Wisconsin. In 2010, we celebrated our 50th anniversary. It was founded on March 17, 1960, in Milwaukee. Currently, there are chapters in Milwaukee, South Central, Dane County, New London, Fox Cities, and Lafayette County. Statewide chapters hold monthly meetings, organize St. Patrick's Day parades, change the city of New London to New Dublin for the week, raise the flag over the State Capitol, as well as other Irish related activities. All of our chapters are involved in fund-raising and have donated thousands of dollars to numerous causes in the past five decades.

Membership includes the printed version of our monthly publication, the Emerald Reflections. The May 2012 issue is online now.

46th Annual Parade - March 10, 2012 - Downtown Milwaukee - Noon

Our St Patrick's Day Parade took place on Saturday, March 10, 2012. The temperatures were in the forties and the winds were high, causing a challenge for banner carriers. We had 140 units, and a record number of floats. The downtown parade has been the largest parade of any type in Wisconsin for the better part of the decade. Since its return to downtown Milwaukee, the Shamrock Club and Westown have produced the greatest family friendly event of the season.

Check our parade site at Saint Patrick's Parade. The Shamrock Club, and our partners, Westown, and Miller Lite, thank you for joining us in what has become one of the largest St Patrick's Day Parades in North America.
